practical shelter innovation for disaster relief

RedR UK Hands-on Shelter day

ReciproBoo were invited to demonstrate the steel ReciproBoo Shelter Kit (RSK) at the RedR SW 'Hands -on' Shelter day held at Lower Beer Farm, Devon on 18th May 2013.

The double steel ReceiproBoo shelter was set up as a demonstration of a framing solution that could be used for the many thousands of tarpaulins that are distributed in a disaster response.

A group of engineers built a basic ReciproBoo shelter using available pre-cut branches on the farm. This was the first time such crude irregular branches had been used for this type of construction but the resulting shelter provoked considerable interest.

It was remarked that "this shelter was the best that had been constructed since the event was first run".

Thank you to Robert Hodgeson and RedR colleagues for the invitation and organising such a successful event
