practical shelter innovation for disaster relief

Single steel ReciproBoo Shelter Kit ( RSK)

This kit provides a family with basic emergency shelter that can be easily upgraded using local resources.

It uses a simple but exceptionally strong reciprocal frame that can be assembled in minutes using only basic lashing skills.

Its ability to support cladding ( foliage, branches, reeds etc) makes it much cooler than any tent in the tropics and warmer in a cold climate.

The reciprocal frame roof uses 33% less steel than any other type of shelter. This means the kit can easily be carried by refugees and aid agencies can make huge savings on transportation costs.

All the components of this kit can be sourced retail.

The tubular steel sections are produced by tent manufacturers.
Tarpaulins are the standard issued by aid agencies.
The rope attachment hooks can be made in numbers from standard 5mm steel tent pegs ( or by hand if required).
Ropes, twine or wire are available worldwide.
