Key design features

The design

This roof frame is the basic unit that is unique to ReciproBoo shelter design.

- 4 reciprocally overlapping poles ABC and D provide strength and a large span.

- A single ridge pole E and three side ropes FG and H  provide stability.

- The points where poles meet are simply cross lashed with sisal twine to form a flexible but strong joint.

The unit is now ready to be used for shelter construction or repairing an existing roof.

Taking this roof frame and elevating it with two poles completes the emergency shelter frame.

Note how the support poles fit inside the frame so they can take the tension from two lateral guy ropes.

The proportions of the frame in the design produce an inclination of approximately 30 degrees to the ground. In practice this functions well to support the required loads

Two tarpaulins attach directly to the frame to complete the shelter.
